Sage Hamilton envisioned a community-centered environment that would allow for nature-based learning, medicinal storytelling, and authentic relating.

Sage Programs is a nature-based, Waldorf-inspired educational program in Boulder, Colorado. Founded by Sage Hamilton, the program is rooted in storytelling, seasonal rhythms, and relationship-centered learning. Through hands-on experiences in nature, creative expression, and community connection, children are invited to learn in ways that are both meaningful and deeply human.

Our Approach

Through hands-on experience in nature, creative expression and community connection, children are invited to learn in ways that are both meaningful and deeply enriching. The children who participate in Sage Programs are able to explore their connection to themselves, to nature, and to others through play, crafts, theater performances, gardening, and more. When children engage in crafts and handwork, we see it as united the head, heart, and hands which in turns fosters cognitive, emotional, and physical development. The steady rhythm of crafting is both a wonderful sensory experience and a mindfulness practice.

Sage Programs offers an alternative approach to education that honors the whole child. Rather than focusing solely on academic outcomes, the program emphasizes imagination, emotional development, and a strong connection to the natural world.

Children engage in storytelling, nature exploration, seasonal celebrations, and creative work that supports both individual growth and community belonging. Learning is not rushed or standardized, but allowed to unfold through lived experience.
